05/07/09 When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd
My lilacs in our front yard made me think of this poem by Walt Whitman.
Here are the first three lines:
When lilacs last in the dooryard bloom'd,
And the great star early droop'd in the western sky in the night,
I mourn'd, and yet shall mourn with ever-returning spring.
